University Scholarship

The University Scholarship Program is one of the most prestigious scholarship programs available to new freshmen and is awarded to academically-talented students from traditionally underrepresented groups or first generation college students who have overcome hardship in achieving their academic goals. Recent University Scholars have had an average ACT score of 26 and an average cumulative GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale. University Scholars receive a $5,000 annual award, renewable for up to eight semesters, for a potential value of $20,000.

Students who submitted their application for admission during the filing period (September 1 – November 15) will be contacted by the Office of Admissions, no later than the end of December. If they qualify to compete for the University Scholarship, this select group of students will be contacted by mail, email, and phone with details outlining the scholarship process and the necessary steps needed to complete a scholarship application.

The application deadline for this scholarship is Friday, January 8th, 2010.

All complete applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. A select group of students will be invited to move forward to the semi-finalist stage of the competition.  Semi-finalists must be available for an on-campus interview in February.  Please be prepared to check the email address provided on your application for status updates. Although important information will be mailed to your home address, please also check your email regularly for status updates. The email address submitted on your scholarship application will be used for communications.
