The University Scholars Program

The University Scholarship Program is one of the most prestigious scholarship programs available to new freshmen. University Scholars receive a $5,000 annual award, renewable for up to eight semesters, for a potential value of $20,000.

Recent University Scholars have earned a grade point average of 3.75 or greater and have ACT scores of 24 and higher. Academically talented new freshmen from traditionally underrepresented groups or first-generation college students facing the tough challenges of acquiring a college education are eligible to apply.

Students applying for, but not awarded the University Scholarship are considered for other merit-based awards for which they may qualify.

Benefits of being a University Scholar

  • Develop a personalized academic plan of study geared towards your interests and goals
  • Centralized academic advisement
  • Participate in specialized courses with other University Scholars
  • Unique orientation program and social activities
  • An assigned faculty mentor to assist with your transition to Illinois State
  • Opportunity to live on residence hall floor with other University Scholars
  • Advanced Registration
