Like what you see? See more of what makes the Illinois State campus exceptional.
Your stuff has been unloaded, your room arranged, and your family is driving away without you. Before you start to panic, enjoy your new sense of freedom on a campus where you'll quickly feel right at home.
Your strongest connections will come in the residence halls, which house more than 6,000 students with diverse backgrounds and cultures, but you'll find much more to explore on our campus and beyond.
Most residence hall rooms are designed for you and only one other student, with the showers just down the hall. There are multiple lifestyle options offered to students in the residence halls. Choose a theme that fits your interests and personality such as floors that are designated quiet, academic, international, wellness, substance-free, or leadership and service. Every residential area has a fitness center and places to study, including computer laboratories, and informal lounges right there in the hall. You’ll have direct network access and free cable television.

Illinois State offers more activities than you'll ever fit into four years. Some tie to your academic interests, like the Student Nurses Association and Sports Marketing
Association. Some are just for fun, including the
Bowling Team and
the University Gaming Association. Service
options range from Habitat for Humanity and
Alternative Spring Break to Circle K International.
You may want to try student government or a
religious group.
Many students enjoy Greek life
at Illinois State, which has 18 social fraternities and 15
social sororities. Even more become avid Redbird fans,
faithfully filling the stands to cheer on the University’s
athletes.
Let the Dean of Student's Office be your guide to student organizations and campus activities.
