Campus Safety

Illinois State University is committed to providing a secure and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

  • The University is served 24/7 by a campus professional police force of 23 full-time officers and has mutual aid agreements with the cities of Normal and Bloomington.
  • Across campus, there are more than two dozen emergency call boxes – a direct outdoor link to police from almost anywhere on campus.
  • The University has the ability to quickly send warning messages via e-mail addresses and to the IllinoisState.edu web page.
  • An emergency paging system is built into all occupied buildings on campus.  Residence halls are also equipped with public address systems.
  • The University is in the final stages of securing a mass notification system that can send emergency messages via phone (land and cell) and text messaging.
  • Nite Ride offers free bus services on or off campus during the evening hours.
