Mike Berninger is a junior majoring in Biochemistry/
Molecular Biology. Illinois State’s program gives him the opportunity to partner with professors as an undergraduate, which gives Mike invaluable experience in a field he can’t wait to enter. “I just love the biology of how things work. I love the combination of what makes a protein and what proteins do. I want to go into the medical field, so biochemistry is a great foundation.”

Illinois State is dedicated to being a "technology-friendly campus" and is dedicated to using this technology to enhance teaching/learning, communication, and creativity. We offer state-of-the-art computer labs, an on-campus computer vendor, a computer help desk providing tech support, downloadable software, and much more.
General purpose computer labs with more than 2,500 instructional computers and additional computers are available in departmental labs. In addition, each residential area of campus has a computer lab, and direct network access is available in almost every residence hall allowing quick access to the Internet and other resources.
State-of-the-art technology is available in classrooms, including computer, video, and Internet resources, as well as in the Science Laboratory Building, which houses modern laboratories and classrooms. Many departments or schools have state-of-the-art discipline specific laboratories that provide an optimal learning environment. Students gain hands-on experience in these labs utilizing the latest in industry specific software and equipment.
With any web browser connected to the Internet, you will be able to log on and view University information specific to you -- such as your class schedule, required textbooks, the balance on your Redbird Card, financial aid information, and University announcements. In addition, you also can access your email account and track your progress on graduation requirements. Get a glimpse of the iCampus Portal without logging in.
The Course Finder is a google-based approach to searching for courses. You can search by course number, department, time of day, building location, online courses, and anything else you can think of!
The Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs are available online for you to download. Future Illinois State students can find course descriptions and lists of requirements for academic programs here.
The catalogs also contain important facts about admission, costs, financial aid, housing, and student services, and activities.
Milner Library offers various services, including - but not limited to - an online catalog used for locating books and other materials at Milner Library, electronic reserves, and access to 65 other academic libraries collections in Illinois; faculty that provides research assistance; and library instruction customized to meet the needs of student and users of all types and skill levels.
In addition, reference services include email and real-time chat available on Milner's Web site through "Ask a Librarian."
