In each of the last two seasons, only 10 NCAA Division I institutions have posted at least 24 wins in both men’s and women’s basketball: Illinois State, Connecticut, Duke, Gonzaga, Louisville, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, Virginia Commonwealth and Xavier.

For the second-straight year, Illinois State finished in the top-5 in 16 of the 17 sports in which it sponsors - the highest percentage of top-five finishers in league history.

The Redbird women’s golf team won its Valley’s best 10th league title in 2009, while Stacey Miller won individual medalist honors and Darby Sligh earned the Valley Coach of the Year for the second-straight season.

The Redbirds have finished in the top-five of the Valley’s All-Sports race for 27-straight years, including a second-place effort in 2009.

ISU has finished first, second or third in the Valley All-Sports Trophy standings in 17 of the past 19 seasons.

ISU Athletics set a record with a department-wide 3.13 grade-point average during the spring 2009 semester.

A total of 254 Redbird student-athletes earned AFNI Athletics Honor Roll designation by earning at least a 3.00 GPA during the fall 2008 semester, another school record.

In each of the past four years, ISU student-athletes have contributed more than 2,000 hours of community service to the Bloomington-Normal area, including a school record 2,518.5 hours in 2008-09.
